Evaluation of My Blog

Over the past couple of weeks, we have been working on a project called ‘My Visual Diary’, which has been a bit of a mind set with wasted time and busy schedules. The project was to make us realize how busy or quiet our lives are. We had to create a blog on a website and update it every day. It was a little bit hard for me to keep up with being on time for posts and taking plenty of photos because getting it perfect is important to me so I tried my hardest to get it to the highest standard I could before it was time to write this evaluation. The way in which they told us how to do our blogs, was all but quite vague which made it difficult for us to think about what topic we could focus on because it could have been about anything we wanted.

My first few posts were just about my first few days/weeks at college. My first post was about Four World. We got given Urban. The post I wrote about this was very resourceful and had a lot of information about what we did that day. I spoke about editing the photos and what I did with them. The images for this post were very clear and well exposed and had good quality, I didn’t talk about the technical side of things because it was my first post and I didn’t have a clear understanding on what to produce. We did a bit on band/music photography, learning about music photographers and researching them to come up with our own images that are similar to theirs. We went out and took some shots what we thought were relevant to the photographer we chose. I put an image onto my blog of a photographers work and after editing my shots I compared them both to show what resemblance my photo and the photographer’s photo had and how I edited it to make it look more like theirs. I spoke about what the photographers work consists of and what skills he has so I could copy them. I also spoke about my communication with the model who is in my picture because that shows I have communication skills when it comes to photography.

In the next part of my blog, I spoke about different techniques in ways to use a DSLR camera. Like depth of field and aperture. On the depth of field post I spoke about two of the same images just edited differently and compared them both because I couldn’t chose which one to put on my blog. I also included another photo which was related to depth of field. All photos were in focus and turned out how I wanted them to turn out.

In the last few posts I just spoke about my day to day life. Some exciting things and some not so much. I wrote about what cameras I was using from a mobile phone to a DSLR camera. To get the idea of how to write a blog and set it out, I read and looked at a lot of other blogs which have already been published and which were relevant to what I liked. They inspired me with their layouts of their blogs so I took a few ideas and made them mine my own. I did a lot of research on how to create my blog and make it the best I could.

Conclusion

Overall, I think my blog was successful, I think I could have taken more pictures to put up in my blog, I should have made more time to work on my blog, analyzing it. I learnt a lot of new things from making this blog and during this project. I have become more confident as a photographer, like using different technology like different cameras and phones, using different editing techniques and experimenting in the world of photography. The development during my blog was very frequent, I think I developed a lot during because at the beginning I didn’t have a clear understanding on what to do but near the end I got a clearer understanding of what had to be produced and I overcome that within hours of research.
