Project 3 - Evaluation

My original idea when we started the project The Square, was to base my photoshoots on fashion and styles. Instead, I ended up basing it on sunglasses, so it turned into commercial photography. I still don't think it turned out well because I didnt focus the shoot on sunglasses very well but I have one image which represents that. My images turned out good, good quality and I edited them aswell which made them look even better. This is a contact sheet, with just some of the pictures from the shoot. Some of them turned out to be over exposed, some under exposed. I used flash on some of them, just to see how the light would react to the flash as I used just day light for this shoot. Which made the shoot harder because I didn't have control of the light or shadows. I researched a instagram account to get idea's for my shoot. jamesklowe had a lot of images which really inspired me to do this shoot and gave me a lot of image ideas. I used a plain white wall for the backdrop as I had no proper backdrop I could have used for this shoot. Some of these photos are really dark because I think the ISO was too low and I think I had the aperture wrong. I do think the natural light worked well with this shoot because it created an unusual effect to the pictures and made them look quite modern. What went well was the overall shoot, I think the model cooperated well, the lighting turned out okay with the backdrop and the model, although I think too many pictures were too dark, I cold have spent more time before sorting out the iso and aperture and shutter speed. I learnt that next time I need to be more time managed and I need to be more prepared. Next time I need to think more about a concept for my shoot, because I didn't really make this one clear.

The picture on the right is one of my final images. The picture on the right is the edited picture of the picture on the left. I cropped the image by taking out her legs, which puts more focus onto the sunglasses which is meant to be the focus of this shoot. I put the picture in black and white and highered the contrast and sharpened the picture a little more. I like how the models hair is blowing to the side which makes the picture more interesting and makes the picture look fuller because the model is in the centre of the image.

The top image is the other one of my final images. The bottom one is the unedited one. I cropped it and put it into photoshop. I changed it to black and white, and sharpened it a little bit to make it stand out more. This image doesn't reallyt focus on my concept because the sunglasses are on the models head. But I think it is a good image because it's in focus, good lighting and again her hair is blowing to the side and she's in the middle of the picture.
