Proposal
Section 1 – Summary
I have been more interested in fashion and beauty. I have done a lot of research to find ideas to help me with my own work. For most of my projects, I have focused them mainly around the idea of fashion and beauty, because that’s the subject I am more interested in. For Project 3, I based my project around unique fashion, but it turned out to be a different concept at the end. The 4th project I looked at gender equality so I involved that with a little bit of fashion too, which is why I have chosen beauty for the final major.
Section 2 – Concept for Project 6 (The Final Major Project)
So the concept of this project is high end, bold makeup looks, close up shots of female faces with makeup on, bold and bright colours. So I have gone of the scale slightly by doing beauty rather than fashion for something different. I have mainly looked at the likes of Mario Testino, because he is a well-known fashion/beauty photographer. His shoot with Carmen Kass for the Allure magazine is a good canvas for me to look at because it relates well to my concept.
I also intend to look further into the photographer Jonathan Knowles, a advertising/commercial/beauty photographer as I am wanting to add some advertising in this project because I feel that will fit in well with the concept.
My aim is to take the research above into my own work and work in a studio to collect a series of images of different makeup looks and work with different angles and lighting, to create a selection of different looks. I will have a number of shoots with a different person for each, doing different styles of makeup/beauty, one with ordinary high end makeup, one that has bold colours involved and maybe another with unusual, unique makeup looks.
Section 3 – Evaluation
I will compare all of my shoots and research I have done to see what helped me the most and chose which one I think was the most unsurpassed. I will then pick my final images to show for the end of the final major project for a final piece.
