Project 6 - Contact Sheets

These contact sheets are from a test shoot I did in the cove studio in the college. I did some analysing on these photos because I needed to compare them and realise what I did wrong in some of them. Because the makeup and set up in the beginning took longer than the shoot, I didn't have enough time to set the shoot set up properly so I couldn't find the right exposure of light for a while and I got it right nearer to the end, which gave me less time to shoot pictures.

In the beginning, the lighting was either too light, or too dark, I solved the problem by brightening it when it was too dark, but when I lighting it a bit more it seemed too light when I took a picture, the light just didn't do any justice to the models face, there wasn't any definition to the face, there was just one bright light on the side of her face which made the picture and her face look unflattering. I tried a couple of different angles with the camera and the model by getting the model to follow my hand to get the position I wanted. The lens I used was a 18 - 55mm lens and I used a Nikon D90 camera, for most of the shots I was zoomed in all the way because I wanted the makeup to stand out but I couldn't get the lighting right to match it. I also used a reflector to try and balance out the shadows on the models face but it didn't seem to work that well, maybe because the lighting was wrong.

The top row of images are when the lighting decided to work well with the camera, because of the models red hair it contrasted well with the lighting and it showed up well in the pictures. And taking the pictures portrait may have helped because they look more professional than the landscape ones and the colour shows up better in them.
