Today I did a another test shoot in the cove studio with one of my friends. I chose this model because she has a good variation of nice clothes so it linked in well with fashion. Her bright red hair also bought an extra something into the image because it contrasts nicely with the tan colour of her skirt and stands out because it's against a black top. I used a stool in this image because I wanted to see how different the photos turned out to the model standing up. I got the model to put one hand in her pocket and the other one on her lap because her arms before this were just on her lap and looked unflattering. When I took these photos, the backgrounds turned out looking quite yellow/green, so I used Photoshop to edit that out, I used the replace colour tool and that gave me the option to change the colour of the background, I thought a coloured background looked quirky and different but I decided to go with plain white because it goes better with the theme and looks more professional. Because the model is facing to the side, it gives a sense of secret identity with the red hair, it makes you feel as if there is a story behind the model or the image. The camera I used for this shoot was a Nikon D90, the F stop was on f/9, the exposure/shutter speed was on 1/8 of a second, the focal length was 30mm and I used a flash light. I booked out some equipment aswell, including an umbrella but I didn't use it because it wouldn't fit on the light, I also booked out a tripod and a light meter. The tripod helped a lot with this shoot because it gave me a lot of choices on where to place the camera so it would give me a clear and crisp image. I mostly shot so the camera was in the middle of the models area, so it would get the whole body in evenly. I put the flash light above the camera and the tripod, so there wouldn't be a lot of shadows behind the model. The wooden stool, black boots, tan coloured skirt and the black top all juxtapose with the red hair in this image, because the body looks symmetrical going from tan coloured to black twice, then with the red hair on top. I used the levels tool to brighten up the background a bit more and to make the hair stand out more. I used the dodge tool to make the hair brighter aswell and to make it look more defined. I also used the clamp tool to get rid of the harsh shadows around the legs and the stool.

These are the same images but just edited differently. The one on the left is the one I had before I used the 'replace colour' tool, it looked very yellowy and it looked very unflattering.
The one on the right I used the 'replace colour' tool to make it blue, which gives the image a more quirkier look, and the blue colour shows off on the models skirt which kind of looks like there was a blue light shining on her.
